G3-FP (Full pressure)
is the standard wedged flipper feather weight robot, with a twist.
Under the flipper arm sits a custom made 50mm bore full pressure
ram. This gives G3-FP one of the most powerful feather weight
flippers in the UK. G3-FP has the power to lift heavy weight robots
and throw feather weight's out of the arena - and has done both on a
number of occasions. Not only can G3-FP give other robots a birds
eye view of the arena but it can also hold its own against some of
the spinners out there. The back panel is 8mm welded aluminium and
supported by two 4mm think plates from the front of the robot. G3 in
other forms reached event finals quiet often but could never walk
away with the gold (normally due to controversial judges decisions
or with a weak problem within the robot). This changed once G3 won
the Stoke Feather weight Smash 2004, but we retired that version of
G3 immediately after the event.
G3-FP is powered by two Bosch 35w
motors, these motors are used in Jaguar cars.
G3-FP also has one of the lowest
ground clearness around, but this also leads to the robot get stuck
on damaged arena floors, this is the reason why currently G3-FP has
not been in combat for a few months.
